Ruth Volkmann

"Looking at Ruth's paintings you feel right at home and childhood lives again.  She re-creates the familiar world of our childhood where the sun is always shining and everything is happy, warm and secure.

Ruth's Studio Her paintings clean the windows of our dulled and oft-repeated images, leading us to rediscover our world with the joy and wonder of first sight.

"Ruth grew up in New England and was educated in the Northwest, graduating from Reed College and the Portland Museum Art School in Oregon.  After spending 12 years teaching art in public schools she chose to become an active artist and has committed herself to her painting career for many years."

"Her acrylic pallette of warm colors is applied with a joyous sensitivity to the interplay of design element, paint colors and loose black lines.  Houses, trees, people, building are grouped together to create a village of friends.  Her rare portraits are similarly touched with her clarity of design, creating a painting which happens to have a person as her subject.  The sun, which is in many of her paintings, has become her signature and her blessing."
